Tell Trump’s science adviser: do your job!

President Trump clearly doesn’t understand, or want to understand, the existential threat climate change poses to our country and planet. Republican leadership and fossil fuel lobbyists are complicit in a decades-long con game to deceive the American people on the hard truth of global warming.

Kelvin Droegemeier's job as a scientific adviser is to present the administration with accurate information and data. If he is not correcting the misinformation when his boss states that winter storms somehow prove climate change is a hoax, then he is NOT doing his job.

The climate crisis is scientifically proven to be driven by humanity and our industries increasing our carbon footprint. The scientific consensus is clear. Droegemeier's job is to tell the president exactly what meaningful action to solve this crisis would look like. We need a massive sea change in policy to avoid calamity.

He must do his job to gather and present accurate data on climate change. If he doesn't, he will be just one more cog in the system orchestrating a deception the likes of which this nation has not seen since big tobacco.

The denial of Climate Change is a no brainer so stop saying it. Do your job and admit it is real. Destroying this planet is a no-no as there is no planet B to go to.

I am submitting this public comment in opposition to NOAA’s proposed “streamlining” of the federal consistency process under the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA).

The federal consistency determination under the CZMA has long provided an essential partnership opportunity among coastal states, affected local governments, and federal agencies proposing offshore oil and gas drilling, seismic airgun petroleum exploration, and renewable energy projects. States with a federally-approved Coastal Zone Management Plan, acting in concert with and on behalf of their coastal communities, hold a legitimate role in determining whether a range of activities associated with federal offshore drilling and other proposed major federal actions are consistent – or inconsistent – with the state’s Coastal Plan.

I am deeply concerned that the unwarranted removal or weakening of CZMA consistency authority could leave a coastal state virtually defenseless in the face of federal offshore drilling proposals and related decisions leading up to the implementation of an Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) offshore oil and gas lease sale, an OCS Plan of Exploration, an OCS Plan of Development and Production, or federal permits for adjacent seismic airgun survey programs.

Absent the maintenance of a state’s well-established right to make an effective federal consistency finding, the subsequent necessary orderly planning to facilitate transportation of any petroleum via tanker, barge, or pipeline, would instead be dictated by federal agencies, rather than continuing to emerge as decisions that are currently co-managed in consultation with affected local governments and coastal states.

Thus, I oppose this proposed rule.

I realize you cannot really do your job given sanity falls on deaf ears, but please do your best.

We have the vast majority of climatologists, who publish their work in peer-reviewed, scientific journals, now telling us that global climate change is mostly caused by human activity and must be addressed on a global scale ASAP. We have even the U.S. Pentagon warning us that global climate change poses a grave risk to international stability and therefore to U.S. interests. Now is the time to maximize our usage of environmentally clean, renewable energy sources and energy efficiency and to reduce our usage of fossil fuels to zero as quickly as possible.
