Ban Fracking in the Democratic Party Platform

Update: Read the final text of the 2016 Democratic Platform. Read about how Climate Hawks Vote and allies confronted Democratic leaders at the Democratic National Convention on fracking.

Fracking is a type of drilling that injects millions of gallons of hydraulic fluids — a mixture of chemicals, water and sand — into a well to create pressure that cracks open rock underground, releasing natural gas or oil. This process can deplete and contaminate local water, damage the environment and threaten public health.

The fugitive methane pollution from the hydrofracturing process is accelerating global warming. On a national scale, a growing body of scientific evidence is building that the climate benefits of switching from coal to natural gas were a total mirage, with the catastrophic Porter Ranch methane blowout the most visible and extreme example of a nationwide surge in methane leakage as a result of the domestic fracking boom promoted by the Bush and Obama administrations. Methane is a greenhouse gas that is 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide on a twenty-year timespan.

The Democratic Party needs to take a clear stand against dirty energy and for a climate-safe future - the party platform should call for an immediate moratorium on fracking everywhere.

To Debbie Wasserman Schultz, DNC Chair and Delegates of the 2016 Democratic National Convention:

Make a ban on fracking for natural gas an official plank of the 2016 Democratic Party platform.

We have little time to spare as the arctic melts and glaciers in the antarctic also show signs of melting far faster than expected. Fracking is bad for our health and bad for the planet. We can’t afford it. Ban fracking now and move into the era of clean energy.

I am an environmentalist and am concern about climate change and the continuing climate change. I am supportive of eliminating fossil fuel……with those that are currently operating with the most current pollutant control systems on the market.

Fracking was a stupid idea and the consequences can be seen already, earthquakes in the Plains states where earthquakes DON’T happen

Major Aquifers PERMANENTLY POLLUTED, and this is just the First Results from 2 decades of allowing the stupid to pretend they can have good ideas !!!

Don’t just BAN Fracking, BAN MORONS FROM MAKING DECISIONS FOR THE WORLD !!!

Sure, an idiot can get a good idea, and a Blind Pigs can get lucky and find an Acorn every once in a while, is that something your willing to bet human lives on ???

As far as I can see the Democratic National Committee is taking no position on fracking. A pipeline has threatened to devastate our pristine area and we have not forgotten the Democratic governor who helped it along, the Dem. Senators who did nothing, the Secretary of State now running for high office who refused our pleas for help, and the President and First Lady who responded to further pleas by telling us to contact our “Congressional Delegation.” As a lifelong Democrat I am extremely put off by the party’s refusal to deal with climate change and fracking. My message to the party is this: if you want my vote, PROMISE TO STOP FRACKING. Thank you.

“There’s a beacon in the sky, meant to catch your eye…”, Happy Rhodes. Dispelling the scarcity based interlocking and laced global economic, fossil fuel fueled, cannibalistic systems of the corporate structure’s convolution, and thereby realizing nature’s abundance based reality of eternal, free, solar energy, through abolition of that fossil fuel dictated defacto-slavery, will realize the evolution’s definition of power as life, growth, consciousness, realizing spiritual flight’s potential, etc., and dispel the notsee definition of power as manipulation to extinction and total destruction of the earth, etc., only if we struggle with their vacuum-up model of economics, that supposedly garner ever increasing amounts of delusional profits, pleasures and powers, in ever increasingly cyclical and centralizing patterns. This is why ‘keeping it in the ground’, etc., in the direction of complete abolition of non-renewable energy use is the new real civil rights movement. An injustice to any is an injustice to all, and if it isn’t address individually, it becomes a global injustice as well. “You can’t struggle with the man’s house (mansion) using the man’s tools”, Audrey Lourdes, “be the change you wish to see in the world”, “the root of all oppression lies in (supposed) science”, Gandhi. No one must be conned by the convolution, divide and conquer only works on the divided, life is indivisible, as your potential is illimitable.   reality

Fracking is domestic terrorism, and the methane emissions from the process makes it a major contributor to climate change.
